Flowers' etiquette
There is only one thing that can be an excellent gift in any case – flowers. The tradition to present flowers for the most wonderful occasions in the human life was created in the very old times. Perhaps even in the Bronze Age after the long and very tiresome running in useless hope to catch a mammoth, a man had to return home with empty hands. So, at least there was an opportunity to find a flower and bring home.
Modern psychologists say that flowers cause women to feel happier, and this feeling is very long and very strong. It is common to present flowers to a woman for any occasion, but sometimes flowers are given to the men – for example, for the anniversary, in the theater, in the hospital (to wish soonest recovering).
If you are invited to a dinner or you are going to take part in the negotiations, flowers are desirable. They express your positive feelings and your hope for the future relationship.
Well, perhaps it is high time to stop with the flowers for the men as there are not so many cases when you can bring flowers to a man. Actually a flower, that is beauty, is a kingdom of a woman. The women know what flowers mean, what flowers are to be given for a certain occasion. Many friends of mine are sure that men could forget to eat, sleep, go to work, but they should not forget about flowers for a special vacation or just for a case. Quite a common thought, but there are rules when it is worthy to present flowers to a woman and in what cases. A first date is a time when people look at each other, learn more about each other and try to understand if this person is a good partner, a caring friend and possibly a sweet mate. Flowers is a sign to a woman that a man likes her, thinks that she is special or at least it is a sign of politeness if a relationship is just friendly. Of course, sometimes it is not comfortable to bring a bunch of the flowers in a theater, a restaurant or just walking along the street. So, that is why a bunch for the first date is to be simple and not big. At least if you are going to present a bigger bouquet for a special occasion in the future, it would look like a good contrast.
Do not think that a woman does not enjoy your present, if she leaves a bouquet on the chair in the theater. It says that she knows etiquette or feels intuitionally that it is allowed to do like that.
If depends on you how many flowers to present. Arab proverb says: "It is better to present a flower every day than to give all the flowers of the world at the same time". In any case, if you are going to give only one flower – do it, but remember that a flower must be large and bright – lily, gladiolus, chrysanthemum.
Choose the flowers very carefully – they are to be fresh or in other case it will be taken like some kind of ignorance from your side.
Age is an important factor in choosing flowers as well. It is polite to present fresh flowers to a woman of every age, but as for the plants in the flower-pots, they are a good present for only older ladies. Of course, it is a general occasion. For example, a heroine of an occasion adores the flowers in the pots. So, make her happier and present.
Happiness is something that is created by outer methods –with smile of a baby, with a new and very successful business deal, with a long expected purchase... but sometimes it is the result of a simple and pleasant present – a bouquet.
In some cases, flowers are the easiest way to say about feelings. So, it is important not only to present, but present with some sense. Flowers are good speakers, if we are not able to say a needed word.
