Thanksgiving

Being grateful for something to a doctor, a teacher or a lawyer is a normal event. When you are in bad times, there are some people who can help you, give you a piece of good advice, or broaden your knowledge. In this case it is polite to show a person that you value his help, you understand that you would waste twice more time to achieve your goal if you tried to do it by yourself.

What is polite to present to a person for his help? Something neutral is a good gift.

Neutral gifts are presented only in the cases when you do not have enough time to choose something special, you do not know tastes and interest of a receiver very well, but you have to present something to show your thoughtfulness. The range of such presents is not large. As an example, it is possible to present flowers, books, sweets, fruits, wine, coffee, also glass, iron, silver, leather and ceramic goods, ash trays, vases, writing sets, notebooks and so on.

If you are invited to somebody's place to spend a weekend or a week out of the city, for example, it is very important to make a gift to the masters of the house to show that you value this invitation and you are grateful for it. At least you could like this place and would enjoy visiting it again. So, be farsighted and prepare something special. It is possible to send flowers or wine before your arrival and small card with warm words of thankfulness. Of course, we are simple people and we do not live at the times of rich lords who were the owners of the rich castles somewhere in sunny Provence. So, it is much easier to make a present during the visit itself. Also it could be a vase or something for the house.

The cost of the present is counted in accordance to some factors. For example, how long you are invited to stay or how much time you spend with the masters of the house per day. Put your imagination and perhaps you could cook something tasty once. Or you could invite the hosts into a nice restaurant to celebrate your meeting and express gratefulness to people who let you stay at their house.

There is a chance that you did not have time or opportunity to choose a gift. So, you can tell warm words of gratitude and express hope that the masters will be able to visit your house once as well. Being polite is very hard, yes? But at least it is something that we learn every day – to keep on good relationships with different people.
